WHAT WE DO
Letter Writing
Communication is key. Our Saturday letter writing workshops allow young men to consistently communicate with their incarcerated parent while also strengthening literacy skills. Letter writing workshops are free and open to any young man from ages 10 to 18 who lives in Detroit and has a mom or dad currently behind bars.
Group Counseling
Feelings matter. When they aren't expressed, they can lead to unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. Group counseling sessions foster a safe and supportive environment for young men to express complex emotions and process these with peers having similar experiences. Counselors help participants develop healthy coping strategies.
Field Trips
Field trips give our young men a chance to have fun, develop friendships with and connect with others impacted by parental incarceration.
Prison Visits
Face-to-face interaction with one's parents is critical to a young man's development. 3D provides financial assistance for prison visits—both in-state and out-of-state.
